Fuel cells

Fuel cells convert the chemical energy stored in a fuel directly to electricity. This means that the conversion efficiency can exceed that of traditional technologies. The fuel cell research at DTU Energy focuses on two main types of fuel cells: HT-PEMFC (high temperature polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell)  and SOFC (solid oxide fuel cell). The department has more than 20 years of experience with fuel cell development.
