Professor Tejs Vegge of the Department of Energy Conversion and Storage has been awarded DKK 100,000 by the Ellen and Hans Hermer’s Foundation.

Professor Tejs Vegge of the Department of Energy Conversion and Storage has been awarded DKK 100,000 by the Ellen and Hans Hermer’s Foundation.

"In my eyes, the prize is not as much a recognition of me personally, but of the sections contributions within design and development of new materials for conversion and storage of renewable energy," said a proud and happy professor Tejs Vegge after the ceremony in Konsistoriehuset, the  oldest building of Copenhagen, where the award ceremony took place.

"We are motivated by an unresolved challenge, where we can accelerate the development of new materials, e.g. for batteries or catalysts, using supercomputers that are able to quickly screen large volumes of data," said Tejs Vegge.

The Foundation is managed by rector of the University of Copenhagen, Ralf Hemmingsen, the dean of the Faculty of Sciences at University of Copenhagen, John Renner Hansen, and the president of the Technical University of Denmark, Anders O. Bjarklev. The foundation awards honorary grants that cannot be applied for.

In addition to the grant to Professor Tejs Vegge, the Professors Morten Melgaard and Katherine Richardson, both of the University of Copenhagen, were awarded similar grants for their equally exemplary scientific and civic service to the Public.
