Independent Research Fund Denmark has awarded just over DKK 40 million to 19 researchers through the DFF-International Postdoc program. The grants enable early-career researchers to carry out an independent research project at an international research institution and strengthen their research competencies.
Postdoc Sina Jafarzadeh receives DKK 2.2 million for the research project ‘SHARP: Shape Morphing Adaptive Reconfigurable Platforms’. In the project, Jafarzadeh will develop wireless, reprogrammable metamaterials that can change shape and function in response to magnetic and mechanical stimuli. These materials can help reduce material consumption in the manufacturing of mechanical structures, thereby supporting more sustainable technological development.
Postdoc Adem R. N. Aouichaoui receives DKK 2.2 million for the research project ‘apexOMC: Accelerated Polymorph EXploration of Organic Molecular Crystals’. In the project, Aouichaoui will develop AI-based models and search algorithms capable of rapidly predicting how molecules organize into different crystal forms. The goal is to identify stable structures and calculate properties such as solubility and conductivity, which could contribute to more robust pharmaceuticals as well as improved organic semiconductors and energy materials.
