Quantum Technology

Quantum technology is utilizing the quantum resources of Nature with the potential to transform computing, sensing, communications, and electronics.

Quantum Technology

Many materials central to energy research are quantum materials. These can potentially enable new categories of functional devices with ultra-low energy consumption, and/or dramatically enhance the energy-efficiency of existing technologies. Moreover, quantum computers are expected to enable simulations of complex systems, materials, and chemical compounds beyond the capabilities of classical computers, thus accelerating the discovery of new materials and catalysts for sustainable energy technologies.

At DTU Energy, activities within quantum technology covers the development of computational methods to understand and predict the quantum behaviour of materials, providing insight into the properties that enable novel quantum functionalities and future quantum devices.
Further we work on understanding and developing novel sensors with unprecedented sensitivity, functional oxide-based quantum materials which exhibit strong interactions for quantum-based electronic and magnetic devices.

Our research combines computational modelling, materials synthesis, advanced characterization techniques, device fabrication, and experimental investigations. By linking fundamental understanding with technological development, we contribute to the scientific foundation for energy-efficient quantum technologies.
Further we explore the emerging applications of quantum computing for simulation of material complexes relevant to the green transition.
