With the non-exclusive license-agreement Haldor Topsoe A/S continues to produce cells, stacks and systems, now within electrolysis, and the 30 persons transferred from Topsoe Fuel Cell (TOFC) to Haldor Topsoe can now produce and develop ceramic electrolysis cells (SOEC) in cooperation with DTU Energy Conversion.

"The license-agreement with DTU will enable us to use the cell-technologies invented by DTU to make and sell electrolysis applications on the open market."

The Danish government has set up a goal that more wind energy is to be implemented in the Danish energy policy. This increases the need for electrolysis to store wind energy and to produce fuel for the transport sector, both for the light vehicles, but also for trucks and planes.
The agreement between Haldor Topsoe and DTU Energy Conversion enhance research in these important areas of the future energy systems, and this cooperation will also be important when Haldor Topsoe A/S is to install a prototype 40 kW SOEC unit for the production of synthesis gas as part of a project on converting biomass and wind into synthetic fuels.

With the agreement Haldor Topsoe's efforts in the SOEC is made up by approx. 40 people, the single largest business efforts within SOEC in the world.
