Welcome to a workshop on 5 December discussing why Denmark has a leading role in the integration of renewable energy sources into the energy system. Denmark has been ranked No. 1 in the Energy Trilemma Index 2017 for 3 consecutive years, prepared by the World Energy Council. The title of the workshop is "Decentralization - key to empowering energy consumers?"
Denmark’s energy system gets international recognition and is the envy of many countries. Once again, Denmark takes the lead in Energy Trilemma Index in a report launched by World Energy Council on 15 November 2017 at COP 23 in Bonn.
The index rewards energy security, energy equity and environmental sustainability and a country’s management of their mutual interaction. But why is it relevant for countries to pursue those characteristics? And how does Denmark succeed in staying at the top of the index? These and similar important matters are discussed by the World Energy Council at a workshop at the WEC MEMBERSHIP MEETING, Tuesday 5 December 2017 at CTR, Stæhr Johansens Vej 28, Frederiksberg.
The title of the workshop is "Decentralization - key to empowering energy consumers?" and everybody is invited to join the discussion on why Denmark has a leading role in the integration of renewable energy sources into the energy system. Denmark has been ranked No. 1 in the Energy Trilemma Index 2017 for 3 consecutive years, prepared by the World Energy Council.
Key findings in the Trilemma Index 2017 from interviews with energy leaders:
- Distributed energy resources are becoming increasingly important to the energy system
- Changes in electricity supply structure are expected to shift from a centralised to a hybrid model between 2017 – 2025
- More than 50% of energy leaders surveyed for the report expect a rapid increase in the share of installed generation capacity in their country to 15% or higher by 2025
- Innovative market entrants such as energy service aggregators, rural entrepreneurs and consumers are driving forces behind the increase in distributed energy resources
- Energy storage is becoming a key element of the grid of tomorrow
Join this meeting to discuss the Energy Trilemma Index and Denmark’s score and other countries’ performance with experts and decision makers from World Energy Council and other sector representatives.
